Marlin discontinued production of the 444S
This particular 444 has been used for hunting. There is some wear on the bluing. The pictures illustrate this wear. The wood finish is in good shape with no signs of cracking. Wood shows signs that this riffle has been put to purpose and not locked in a safe.
